
In this Paediatric Masterclass, attendees will learn about two major components of infancy and neonate management; plagiocephaly and Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip. This session will focus on evidence-based management, updates in long-term outcomes, as well as learning appropriate examination techniques for assessing.
Learning Objectives for the day:
Session 1 – Plagiocephaly
- Identifying and differentiating deformational plagiocephaly
- Develop your understanding on pathogenesis of plagiocephaly
- Develop your understanding on potential risks of plagiocephaly
- Discuss the current options regarding management and their potential outcomes
- Develop an understanding behind the role of the chiropractor for cases of deformational plagiocephaly
Session 2 – Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH)
- Understanding normal hip development
- Understanding the development of hip pathology including risk factors
- Develop your understanding on the process of mechanotransduction and its involvement in DDH
- Discuss current advancements in management of DDH
Session 3 – Practical Components of Plagiocephaly and DDH
- Learn or review common assessment techniques for plagiocephaly, including cervical spine assessment and treatment options (and more on force of course!)
- Learn or review common tests for detecting or screening for DDH
